Dormer Place
A beautiful example of a Complex Façade where quality over rules cost. This Design and Build Façade contract required RTS to research and establish new fabrication methods by amalgamating ACM and aluminium fabrication techniques to produce a product conforming to the Architects strictest profile requirements. The design needed to overcome the challenges presented by an ever shifting, multi product Façade was produced by RTS who then went on to Project manage the whole of the Building Envelope including work by other contractors and in particular the interfacing between the very different elements of the Facade.
Rapide Technical Services provided a complete envelope design, comprising of curtain wall, bespoke rainscreen cladding, Terracotta Cladding, Aluminium Cladding and pressed metal elements.
Envelope systems are tried and tested items and even bespoke works are built upon the knowledge gained on tried and tested systems. The weak points occur when these systems meet and the interfacing presents challenges that fall into a “no mans land” of responsibility. Larger Contractors are aware of this problem, hence the proliferation of Total Building Envelope Contractors. But, these larger Building Envelope Contractors tend to shy away from the smaller complex projects because they require a disproportionate amount of attention.
RTS provides the solution.
